Lamellar Spacing Modelling for LPBF Aluminum Parts

نویسندگان

چکیده

The high cooling rates reached during metal additive manufacturing (MAM) generate microstructures very different from those obtained by other conventional methods. Therefore, research about the modeling of this type microstructure is great interest to MAM community. In work, prediction lamellar spacing an AlSi10Mg sample manufactured laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), presented. A multiscale approach used, combining a CALPHAD (Computer Coupling Phase Diagrams and Thermochemistry) model predict material properties, with macroscale microscale microstructure. metallographic characterization also included. results prove that strategy followed valid approximation simulate process. addition, it shown use generic simulation software focused on casting processes can be useful in predicting LPBF. Finally, relationship between rate resulting has been established for under specific conditions considered.

Numerical Modelling of Dynamic Compaction in Dry Sandy Soils for Determination of Effective Print Spacing

Dynamic compaction (DC) is a widely used soil improvement method in dry and/or saturated soils. The design of DC treatment is usually carried out based on the past experiences and empirical relations. In order to clarify the ambiguities in DC processes, numerical modeling of DC in dry granular soils has been considered using a dynamic finite element code. Using the developed model, two design c...

Validation of Foundry Process for Aluminum Parts with Flow3d

The importance of smooth mould filling in the foundry casting process has been recognized for a long time. More uniform the filling process is, the better the quality of the casting of the products produced. Successful computer simulations can help to reduce the number of trials and cut down the lead time in the design of new casting products by better understanding the complex mechanisms and i...

Modelling Spare Parts' Demand: an Empirical Investigation

Intermittent demand patterns are very difficult to forecast and they are, most commonly, associated with spare parts’ requirements. Most research in this area focuses on the control of inventories assuming that an appropriate estimator is in place to forecast demand and that the demand is represented by one of the standard statistical distributions. The choice of a demand distribution has an im...

Modelling Tumor-induced Angiogenesis: Combination of Stochastic Sprout Spacing and Sprout Progression

Background: Angiogenesis initiated by cancerous cells is the process by which new blood vessels are formed to enhance oxygenation and growth of tumor. Objective: In this paper, we present a new multiscale mathematical model for the formation of a vascular network in tumor angiogenesis process. Methods: Our model couples an improved sprout spacing model as a stochastic mathematical model of spro...

Cellular spacing: analysis and modelling of retinal mosaics

A key step in nervous system development is the spatial positioning of neurons within a structure. In this chapter I review the mechanisms by which the cellular spacing of neuronal networks emerges. In particular, I focus on the spatial distribution of neurons within the retina. The retina is ideal for studying such developmental mechanisms because of its multilayered structure and specific neu...
